This is another image from a session I did in studio to illustrate the power of depth of field in creating strong fine art nude photography. There are times when having an image tack sharp from foreground to background makes sense because you want all the elements to have equal weight.
But there are times when you’ll want to use a shallow depth of field to emphasize line, texture, pattern, gesture and emotional content. Here, I used ƒ1.8 to bring strong focus only to her lips, something I felt brought more emotion to the image.
