nude photography workshop in Iceland july 1-7, 2012

I’ve traveled to over twenty countries, and Iceland is at the top of my list for sheer dramatic beauty. With all but one of the world’s ecosystems, the opportunities for remarkable images seems infinite.

Our time begins in Reykjavik on Sunday when we will get together for a short presentation on the history of fine art nude photography, and review the portfolios of the attendees. We’ll also go over the camera settings that will best serve you in shooting nude photography on location, and answer any technical questions you may have about digital workflow.

Then, Monday through Friday, we’ll head out to steaming mud pots, incredible waterfalls, and dramatic moss covered volcanic fields to shoot with our models. Just look at the pictures on the “About” and “Testimonials” pages to get a feel for our locations. On Saturday, we’ll edit our work, have a critique, and celebrate our week with a festive dinner back in Reykjavik.

The models are experienced, professionally trained dancers, and there will be a 3:1 ratio of participants to models.

This program is staged in conjunction with Focus on Nature, the premier photographic workshop organizer in Iceland. Their knowledge of the locations, commitment to service, and attention to detail are the best I’ve experienced.

For this to work best, it is recommended that participants shoot with digital cameras and bring a laptop for editing. Although you are welcome to shoot film, feedback on your efforts would certainly be limited.

Feedback from last year’s participants:

“Allen is a most gifted teacher, and for anyone considering a unique opportunity to visit a beautiful country and learn a form of photography under a true artist,  this is it.   I have great memories of the workshop and cherish what I learned and the beautiful images I was able to capture.”-Marc Safran, Liverpool NY

“We had a wonderful trip and one that I will always cherish.  Iceland is truly a special place.  Add to that the wonderful fellowship that was such a big part of the trip and the great photos we got and the result is an amazing experience.” -Keith M, Atlanta GA

“It was quite rewarding in studying how Allen worked; how he was looking for the right spot at a location, and how he would direct the model to get the pose and expression he was looking for  But after the demonstrations, Allen was watching us and giving us advice to improve our images, the camera position and the position of the model(s).  At the end of the workshop Allen went through the images we had chosen for critique, and his comments were invaluable.

Value for the money?  Absolutely – every penny!! Highly recommended.”-Sjur Roald, Vigra Norway
